My name is Richard Torres. I am the special education teacher at Burnet Elementary, and I work with all grade levels. I have 23 years experience as an educator. I have also worked as an instructional specialist and as an educational diagnostician. I hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from UTEP. I am currently enrolled at Texas Tech University.
My teaching philosophy is quite simple. Learning is not a spectator sport! Children learn by doing, from first-hand concrete experiences, using their senses, exploring their environment of people, things, places and events. I hope to instill in every one of my students a passion for learning. My desire to become a teacher is rooted in my belief that only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughters. I love traveling, gardening, carpentry, and flyfishing.
Please feel free to contact me (915- 236-8225) with any questions or concerns. My conference is from 12:30 – 1:15.
I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious! ~Albert Einstein
